Snack Pack Heaven
Dailey's Weekly
Every time I open our mailbox, more invitations fall out. May is the season of celebrating. It’s graduations, showers, awards ceremonies, and weddings. Our calendar is so jam-packed, it’s less May-like, more Decembish. Maycember.
Thankfully, in the midst of this Maycember, God has granted me adequate time to coordinate Hurricane Helene relief efforts. Just last week we broke ground to help family #28. This single mom, Jessica, and her two boys are getting a brand-new house—all to the glory of God!
For 18 months this sweet family of three has bounced from short-term rental solutions to homes of family members, often splitting up so each of them would have a bed for the night. So you can imagine their delight when a couple out of Greenville, TN donated a 26-foot camper for the family to stay in while their home is built. God sent the perfect spot at the perfect campground with His perfect solution.

But Jessica and her boys still needed stuff to fill that camper... you know, those essentials like bath towels and silverware and sheets. Enter: you guys. Jessica compiled an Amazon wish list, we posted it, you shared it, and dozens of items raced in from across the country.
I woke up this morning to a delightful text from Jessica. On the Amazon list, she’d requested one 10-count of Jello Snack Packs to stock the pantry for her boys. But apparently no limit was set. When her 11-year-old arrived home at the camper last night, she’d unboxed a tower of over 100 snack packs.
“I’ve died and gone to snack pack heaven,” he announced.
It warmed me all over when I pictured this sweet boy standing in their donated camper, gawking at piles of snack foods, camping chairs, and even a brand new bicycle just for him—all from complete strangers, answering the call to minister. And the whole thing got me thinking (as these things often do)...
Which invitations did Jesus stack in your mailbox this morning?
Maybe the invitation you open today will be a conversation with that person on the back pew of your church who sits alone. Perhaps God is inviting you to call a friend and pray with them. The Lord may invite you to visit or send a card to that church member in the hospital. Or God might just be nudging you to buy coffee for that person in line with you at Starbucks this morning. Hand them a little Jesus. Smile. Show love.
“By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another,” (John 13:35).
It’s May and our mailboxes are crammed full of God’s invitations. When we shine our Christian lights, we plant seeds for the kingdom. And if we RSVP to just one of God’s invites every day, imagine the harvest He will reap.
“So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase” (I Corinthians 3:6-7).
This week a dear friend told me she is making me a tee-shirt. She sent a photo. The text on the front read, “Preach the gospel at all times. If necessary, use words.”
A lost and hurting world won’t care how much we know until they know how much we care. And when we love on folks, it always points them to Jesus.
I have a massive carton of what I call “Jesus merch” in my trunk. There are Bible verse keychains, little Jesus figurines, God Stories books, crosses, and “Jesus loves you” stuffed animals for kids. But the merch does no good if I leave it in my trunk. If I never have to replenish my stash, I’m not answering the Lord’s invitations. It’s my job, and yours too, to get out there and share the good news.
“In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 5:16).
Check your mailbox. Can you rsvp to one invitation every day? Imagine how Christians could turn the world upside down if we gifted more kids the euphoria of snack pack heaven.
Verse of the Day:
“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God” (I John 4:7).
Quote of the Day:
“I will always remember those who came with a lamp when I was in the dark.”
